I'm also thinking, but don't really know, that one of these multi-cutter facing mills would produce a nicer surface than a single bit fly cutter. That's just a guess on my part. Web26 jun. 2024 · Any fly cutter in a low HP mill is not going to have a large MRR and you'll probably find that .020 DOC works well. it can do deeper but easily bogs the spindle down with faster feeds. I don't like fly cutters over shell mill types just because of the unbalanced tool, RPM has to be much lower . ebay has some options that are less expensive.

A fly cutter is inexpensive and could be home made. The SX3 mill is rated to use a 50mm face cutter but I have used a 75mm dia cutter using light cuts.
