NettetThat's not instant death in the way OP described. That's instant death as punishment for trying something stupid. You let them kill themselves, and quite rightly too. If a PC tries something that could get them killed, you absolutely should kill them if they fuck it up. NettetInstant death effects definitely have the potential to be vindictive and not-fun, so I generally only use them under certain conditions. If the players know they're walking to a situation with the potential for death effects, I'm not going to hold back.
